Sam Moore Consolidates Executive Functions, Re-Aligns Cost Structure

Bedford, Va., May 28, 2009: Sam Moore is consolidating executive functions and reducing its cost and overhead structure in a move to increase efficiencies and competitiveness.

Effective immediately, Steve Shelor will assume the new position of Vice President-Operations and General Manager of Sam Moore, responsible for the day to day operations of the Company. All operational departments will report to Shelor including Finance, Information Technology, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Engineering and Manufacturing.

Sales and Merchandising will continue to report to Alan Cole through Frank Richardson, Vice President of Sales.

As part of the management consolidation, two positions will be eliminated and one executive will retire. The eliminated positions include Vice President-Finance, Gary Brumfield and Vice President-Information Technology, Roger Gossler. Charles Boley, Plant Manager will retire June 15 after 24 years with the Company. "This realignment of our costs and overhead based on current and anticipated business levels will help us to be a more efficient and responsive organization, with all operating functions reporting to one individual," said Alan Cole, President of Hooker Furniture Upholstery. Cole added that the new reporting structure will help us to be "totally focused on service and quality, to speed up our customer response time and delivery times."

"This reduction of Sam Moore's costs and overhead, along with the reductions at Bradington-Young last summer, is an important step toward ensuring that Hooker Furniture's Upholstery Division is a vibrant, preferred vendor in the industry for years to come.
